MSP welcomes resurfacing works at Townhead

Local MSP Rona Mackay raised issues around pavement and flooding conditions at Townhead in Kirkintilloch.

In a response from East Dunbartonshire Council they confirmed that resurfacing works programmed for the carriageway at this location would be part of their 2019/20 programme and will arrange to have this section of footway resurfaced as part of the project.

Previously a drainage channel was installed at this location to direct the water into the available drainage system. This channel will be cleaned out to elevate any potential flooding issues in the short term.

Ms Mackay said, “I have written to East Dunbartonshire Council previously about this issue and I’ve had constituents drop into my local office to raise issues around the uneven pavements, as well as flooding.

“I welcome the decision of East Dunbartonshire Council to finally take action to resurface this area and clean out the drainage channel.

“If you have any local issues you would like to report, I am happy for you to contact me via www.ronamackay.scot or call 0141 776 1561”
