RONA PRAISES VOLUNTEERS AT COMMUNITY EVENT

'BE KIND' COMMUNITY EVENT HELD IN BISHOPBRIGGS


Strathkelvin and Bearsden MSP Rona Mackay praised the work of local volunteers, charities and social enterprises at a special community event at Bishopbriggs recently.

The ‘Be Kind Community Volunteer Day’, organised by Better Briggs group was held at Bishopbriggs Community Church.

SNP MSP Ms Mackay said: “I was delighted to meet up with some of the amazing local groups and volunteers who give so much to the community to help improve the lives of local people.

“Special thanks also to Asda for the cakes and local social enterprise Glesga Roasters for the delicious coffee!”

Groups who took part in the event included local history group Friends of Thomas Muir, Asda community champions, GRACE recovery after-care support group for people who have experienced life traumas and Bishopbriggs Community Council.

Rona Mackay was re-elected in May 2021 in Strathkelvin and Bearsden.

Prior to this, she was a journalist in national newspapers for more than 20 years, before becoming Parliamentary Assistant to Clydebank and Milngavie MSP Gil Paterson, with whom she worked for nine years before becoming elected.
