MSP PRAISES SCHOOLS IN SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT
Local MSP Rona Mackay has recognised schools throughout East Dunbartonshire in a Parliamentary motion for their efforts in tackling COVID-19. The Strathkelvin and Bearsden MSP has written to all schools involved and submitted the motion in recognition of the innovative work done by staff and students throughout her constituency to help in the current crisis. The motion, which praises the incredible work and community spirit of the schools, reads “That the Parliament commends schools throughout Strathkelvin and Bearsden that have taken extraordinary measures to support the NHS and the most vulnerable in the community during the COVID-19 outbreak”.
The efforts of Bishopbriggs Academy, Bearsden Academy, Kirkintilloch High School, St Ninian’s High School, Lenzie Academy, Boclair Academy and Turnbull High School have all come in for high praise. Ms Mackay said: “The pupils, staff and wider school community of all involved within this fightback have been nothing short of inspirational. “This is a prime example of everyone pulling together to help those in their time of need. Whether it was delivering supplies, community organising or producing vital stocks of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), I am incredibly proud to represent each member school. “My motion to the Scottish Parliament highlights exactly this, showing the spirit and character of all our staff and students. In times as precarious as this pandemic, it’s incumbent on all of us to celebrate and praise our wonderful community as they rise to the challenge of helping those who need it most.”
